NFL: New York Giants 18, New England 17

FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- A 65-yard run by Da'Rel Scott and a fumble return of 11 yards by Richard Medlin Thursday rallied the New York Giants to an 18-17 win over New England.

Although the dramatic fourth quarter did not feature any of the regular members of the roster, the Giants closed their exhibition season in exciting fashion.

Scott's long run early in the fourth period came on a fake punt and cut the Giants' deficit to seven. Medlin brought New York within one with his fumble return with 9:40 to play and the Giants went out front on a two-point conversion pass from Ryan Perrilloux to Jerrel Jernigan.

A New York fumble on the first play of the game set up one of the two 1-yard touchdown runs by New England's BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

The Giants played the game with only two days of rest following their hurricane-delayed contest against the New York Jets Monday.

New England's Tom Brady, one of the few first-team quarterbacks who saw action during the final round of pre-season games, threw for 116 yards.

Both teams finished their exhibition schedule at 2-2. New York begins the season at Washington and New England will visit Miami.
