Position: Family Support Worker - Healthy Start Entry Pay Range: $14.27 to $16.68/hour Full time JOB SUMMARY: This position promotes positive parent-child relationships, supports healthy childhood growth and development, and enhances family functioning of first-time parents with children newborn to age three throughout Multnomah County through home visiting. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver parent and child education services in home visit settings to first-time parents and their babies 0-3 years of age according to families' individual service plans and evidenced-based Parents As Teachers curriculum. Work with families, supervisor, and Healthy Start team to promote positive parent-child relationships, support healthy growth and development, enhance problem-solving skills and improve support systems. Connect families with community stabilization resources as well as encourage self-advocacy across systems. Encourage and facilitate family participation in program and community activities. Meet weekly with supervisor for supervision. Fulfill all training and evaluation requirements as established by Healthy Start-Healthy Families standards. Serve as an integral member of the team and provide support and development opportunities to new staff, interns, and volunteers. Maintain accurate, legible, timely documentation detailing contact and progress of families. Complete on-going evaluation documentation and assessments for each family in accordance with Healthy Start-Healthy Families standards. Effectively works with families and individuals of diverse backgrounds (including teen parents; families with mental health, substance abuse, or domestic violence concerns; families experiencing poverty). REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of three (3) years experience in education or human services, preferably providing early childhood education services to low-income children ages prenatal to 5 years. One year specialized experience in providing parent and child development services for families with infants and toddlers. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in early childhood education, social work or related field preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekly evening home visits and occasional weekend home visits or events. Ability and willingness to work as a team member and support Impact Northwest's mission and goals. Excellent writing, interpersonal, and communication skills required. Must be able to function independently and use ethical judgment in making decisions. Possess excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple and varied tasks. Flexible, dependable, team player. Some computer skills needed. Possess a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and provide own dependable transportation to travel on behalf of agency. PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Parents as Teachers (PAT) certification or knowledge. THIS JOB ALSO REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Repetitive motion, prolonged sitting, extensive visual involvement. Ability to efficiently travel in order to perform duties.
