Gazarian Real Estate Center: ethics in real estate

ethics in real estate

In Real Estate, there are things that are right and thing that are wrong. It?s a Code of Ethics. When you ask yourself ?should I be doing this?? most likely you shouldn?t. Knowing when something is wrong is what gets people far in real estate. Real Estate is networking. If you have a bad name in real estate, you will not get any business. In this Blog post I will talk about the duties Real Estate agents has to Clients and customers, to the Public, and to other Realtors. Duties to clients and customers. When representing a buyer, seller, landlord, tenant, or other client as an agent, REALTORS pledge themselves to protect and promote the interests of their client. This obligation to the client is primary, but it does not relieve REALTORS of their obligation to treat all parties honestly. When serving a buyer, seller, landlord, tenant or other party in a non-agency capacity, REALTORS remain obligated to treat all parties honestly. REALTORS, when acting as principals in a real estate transaction, remain obligated by the duties imposed by the Code of Ethics. (Amended 1/93) REALTORS shall not deny equal professional services to any person for reasons of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin. REALTORS shall not be parties to any plan or agreement to discriminate against a person or persons on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin. (Amended 1/90)??REALTORS, in their real estate employment practices, shall not discriminate against any person or persons on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin. When involved in the sale or lease of a residence, REALTORS shall not volunteer information regarding the racial, religious or ethnic composition of any neighborhood nor shall they engage in any activity that may result in panic selling, REALTORS? shall not knowingly or recklessly make false or misleading statements about competitors, their businesses, or their business practices. (Amended 1/92). REALTORS? shall not engage in any practice or take any action inconsistent with exclusive representation or exclusive brokerage relationship agreements that other REALTORS? have with clients. (Amended 1/04) Being Moral is the most Ethical way to be in the Real Estate world. Since the business is mostly networking, the way you have business is word of mouth. Who do you know and what have you done. When you do things the wrong way, people will find out, and it will stay with you for a long time. http://www.realtor.org/mempolweb.nsf/ http://www.biggerpockets.com/renewsblog/2010/05/03/ethics-of-real-estate-strategic-default/ http://homeguides.sfgate.com/code-ethics-real-estate-1602.html
