Intervention for addiction is not only limited to those who have an alcoholism and substance abuse problem, such technique is also utilized for people with gambling addiction, addiction for sex, and an addiction to online gaming. People who show early symptoms or dependency on their addiction call for an intervention in order to make them realize about their addiction and to make them admit that they do have a problem controlling their urges and their cravings. Go through some of the intervention techniques used by trained psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists in order to confront their subject.

Intervention by a professional - Professional therapists and counselors perform different kinds of intervention for addiction all the time. One of the more common techniques they use is when they come face to face with a subject and have an intervention with them. Discussing with them how their addiction or dependency is slowly growing worse and it is not only affecting and hindering their daily performance but it is also affecting the people around them. This confrontation technique should have consent from either a subject's loved ones or friends in order for it to push through smoothly.

Intervention for Sex addiction - This type of technique is somewhat to be dealt with very delicately in order for it to become successful. The individual who's undergoing this sort of addiction needs the support of their family and friends in order to fully commit to their rehabilitation. An intervention for sex addiction focuses more on making the person admit to their problem and encouraging them to join group therapy and counseling to discuss with other recovering sex addicts how they overcame their addiction and how to avoid relapse.

Intervention for substance abuse - An intervention for drug addiction is one of the most common types of intervention for subjects who have been dependent on drugs for some time or those who show early signs of addiction. This type of intervention works by gathering the subjects loved ones and friends and making them confront and talk to that individual one person at a time regarding their dependency problem and how they can still get the help that they require.

Self Intervention - This is a kind of intervention where the person admits to themselves about their addiction and seeks the help that they require from a rehabilitation center or a recovery center that deals with their type of addiction.
